Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about planning your East African safari with Brisami Tours & Travel.
Booking & Planning
We recommend booking at least 1 month in advance. That said, last-minute bookings are sometimes possible - reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Absolutely. Customisation is at the heart of everything we do at Brisami. Every safari can be tailored to your preferences - from the destinations and trip duration to your accommodation style, pace of travel, and special interests like photography, birdwatching, or cultural immersion. Simply share your ideas with us and our travel experts will design a bespoke itinerary built entirely around you.
East Africa is a year-round destination, though the experience varies by season. The dry seasons (June-October and January-February) offer the best game viewing as animals gather around water sources and the vegetation is thinner. The Great Migration - one of nature's greatest spectacles - crosses the Mara River between July and October. Zanzibar is ideal from June to October and December to February for sunny beach weather. The shoulder and green seasons offer fewer crowds. We can help you choose the perfect timing based on your priorities and interests.
Our packages typically include accommodation, all meals while on safari, national park and conservancy entry fees, game drives in custom 4x4 vehicles with pop-up roofs for unobstructed viewing, professional multilingual tour guides, airport transfers, and domestic or regional flights where applicable. Items usually excluded are international flights, travel insurance, visa fees, and personal expenses such as tips and souvenirs - though we can arrange any of these upon request.
Destinations
We specialise in four key East African destinations: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zanzibar. Each offers a unique experience - from Kenya's iconic Masai Mara to Uganda's gorilla forests, Tanzania's Serengeti plains, and Zanzibar's spice-island beaches. We also offer multi-country East Africa Circuits that seamlessly combine two or more destinations into one extraordinary journey, so you can experience the best of the region in a single trip.
Yes, and it's one of our most popular combinations! Our Tanzania & Zanzibar Circuit lets you track the Big Five across the Serengeti, witness the Ngorongoro Crater, and then unwind on Zanzibar's pristine white-sand beaches - all in one seamless trip. In Kenya, Diani Beach on the south coast is an excellent pairing with a Masai Mara safari. We handle all the logistics, including internal flights, so the transition between bush and beach is effortless.
Yes. Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of only two places on Earth where you can trek with endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat - an experience that is truly life-changing. Each trekking group is limited to just eight people, making it an intimate and exclusive encounter. We offer standalone gorilla trekking trips as well as combined itineraries like our Kenya & Uganda Circuit and the East Africa Grand Tour, which include gorilla encounters alongside classic safari game drives.
Travel & Safety
Most nationalities require a visa or travel authorization to enter East Africa. Kenya uses the official Kenya eTA portal, Uganda uses the Uganda eVisa portal, Tanzania uses the Tanzania eVisa portal, and Rwanda visa applications can be made through IremboGov. If you plan to visit multiple countries, the East Africa Tourist Visa is a cost-effective single visa that covers Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda for up to 90 days; apply through the country of first entry and select the East Africa Tourist Visa option where available. During the booking process, our team will advise you on the exact visa requirements based on your nationality and itinerary, including links to official application portals and a checklist of required documents.
East Africa is a well-established and popular safari destination with a strong tourism infrastructure and a long history of welcoming international visitors. At Brisami, safety is built into every aspect of your trip. Our guides are highly trained and experienced, all vehicles are regularly serviced and equipped with communication devices, and we use only vetted lodges and camps with proven safety records. We provide comprehensive pre-departure safety briefings and maintain 24/7 on-ground support throughout your journey, so help is always just a phone call away.
Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Uganda and may be required for Kenya and Tanzania depending on your country of origin or recent travel history - you'll need to carry your Yellow Fever certificate. We strongly recommend consulting a travel health clinic at least 6-8 weeks before departure to discuss additional recommended vaccines (such as Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus) and to obtain malaria prophylaxis, which is advised for most safari areas across East Africa.
We recommend packing neutral-coloured clothing (khaki, olive, beige) as bright colours can disturb wildlife, comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, and a warm fleece or jacket for early morning game drives when temperatures can be surprisingly cool. Don't forget sun protection (wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen SPF 50+, sunglasses) and insect repellent with DEET. Every Brisami 4x4 safari vehicle will have binoculars for wildlife spotting, and cameras will be available for capturing safari moments. However, you may still carry your own binoculars or camera if you prefer personal equipment, want stronger zoom or specific lenses, or need extra memory cards and batteries. Once you book, we provide a comprehensive destination-specific packing list so you'll know exactly what to bring.
Payments & Policies
We accept bank transfers, major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), M-Pesa mobile money, and PayPal for your convenience. A 30% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your dates and accommodations, with the remaining balance due 60 days before your travel date. Full payment details and a clear breakdown are provided in your booking confirmation email.
Cancellations made more than 60 days before departure receive a full refund minus a small administration fee. Between 30 and 60 days, a 50% charge applies as lodges and services will have already been reserved. Within 30 days of departure, the full cost is non-refundable. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that includes trip cancellation coverage for added peace of mind. See our Terms and Conditions for full details.
Yes, we offer attractive group discounts for parties of 6 or more travellers, with savings that increase as the group size grows. Group bookings are ideal for family reunions, corporate retreats, school groups, and special celebrations. We also run seasonal promotions and early-bird discounts throughout the year. Contact our team directly with your group size and preferred dates, and we'll prepare a tailored group proposal with transparent pricing.
